  1. Strategy Overview

    The Language Gym

    What is The Language Gym?
The Language Gym is an interactive website developed by Dr Gianfranco Conti. The site consists of three sections including Verb Trainer, Workouts and Game Room to support children's learning in French, Spanish, German, Italian and Malay.

    What is this strategy about?
Don’t just use the songs you have rewritten to fit the tunes of other songs. Use pop, rock, indie and rap songs in the language you are teaching to help reading comprehension and inference skills, as well as cultural education.

What are the benefits of learning through song?
The rhythm, rhyme and alliteration in songs can strengthen memory skills which can help students to remember the information that they have learnt.  Background music may also enhance performance on cognitive tasks.

  2. Choose this strategy if you want to...
    - Reinforce language skills. (Songs are repetitive and language is learnt through repetition)
    - Teach cultural context
    - Model pronunciation
