What is this strategy about?
Teach specific strategies to apply in order to monitor and overcome barriers to comprehension.
What is reading comprehension?
Reading comprehension is the ability to process and understand the meaning within written text.
Why is reading comprehension important?
Comprehension increases the effectiveness of reading as it allows students to construct the meaning within the text. Without comprehension, reading is reduced to a word calling exercise where students do not understand what they are reading.
