  1. Strategy Overview
    Strategy Source
Outdoor Learning in the Early Years, Helen Bilton

    What is this strategy about?
The outdoor environment is vital to support children to develop healthy and active lifestyles. The outdoors allows for active play and whole-body movement which is less practical within the indoor environment however it all begins in the classroom.

    What is outdoor learning?
Outdoor learning is learning that takes place outside the classroom. It usually refers to organised learning which takes place in an outdoor setting and is an active approach to learning.

How can children learn outside the classroom?
Look at maps of the area/your school grounds and conduct exercises using the maps to improve map reading skills, garner interest and plan your activities. This builds a sense of enigma and excitement.
