The Communication Trust
What is this strategy about?
This CPD unit will help you be more aware of your teacher talk time and encourage your students to contribute to your lessons.
Why should teachers allow students time to talk in lessons?
It is essential to take a step back from being the main speaker in the classroom. Handing over to the pupils is essential for pupils to formulate their thoughts, communicate their ideas and reflect upon their learning. It also helps teachers to dissect the pupils' answers and ideas to encourage depth and address misconceptions.
Why do we have initiatives and not modules?
If you were wondering why we have initiatives rather than the more usual e-learning modules, read our blog to find out why.

Choose this strategy if you want to...
- Reduce the amount of talking you do and increase pupil talk in your classroom
- Increase pupils' confidence in their answers and their communication skills
