Sue Cowley, Getting the Buggers to Behave
What is this strategy about?
This CPD course will help you be aware of how you are going to react to situations in the classroom and of all of the resources at your disposal to deal with pupil's behaviour.
Why is it important for teachers to stay calm?
Teachers must stay calm when addressing a disruptive student. A teacher's temperament can have a strong impact on student behaviour. Maintaining a calm attitude is important for effective classroom management as it can diffuse difficult situations more easily. If you react badly, it can escalate the situation instead.
Why is it essential to have a consistent approach with every student?
Having a consistent approach to disciplining disruptive behaviour ensures that you are fair to every student and that students understand the exact consequence for each of their actions.
